Three champions from three schools complete in three tasks. The schools are Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, Beuxbatons Academy and Durmstrang. The champions, who were selected by the famous Goblet of Fire, are:

Cedric Diggory of Hogwarts
Fleur De Lacour of Beuxbatons and
Viktor Krum of Durmstrang.

Also this year, the Goblet chose a fourth champion - Harry Potter of Hogwarts.

Each of the champions must use their skills to get past a dragon and retrieve a golden egg. Without this egg it will be impossible to continue to the next task.

There are four dragons, one for each champion:

*Welsh Common Green
*Hungarian Horntail
*Norweigan Ridgeback
*Chinese Fireball

Each of the champions must dive into the lake and retrieve something which is precious to them, and which has been stolen for the purpose of this task.

The Quidditch Pitch at Hogwarts has been transformed into a giant maze. Inside the maze are a variety of obstacles. The Tri-Wizard cup is at the heart of the maze, and the first champion to reach it wins the Tournament.
